Hazon Vines is a boutique wine estate in the Hartbeespoort Valley, tucked beneath the Magalies Mountains. Small, family-run, serious about the winemaking and the hospitality. The kind of estate that wins on story and detail rather than reach.

The brief was a brand-and-website build that carried the estate’s tone into a site that could sell wine directly, take tasting bookings, and hold the identity as the range expands.

Challenge

South African wine e-commerce has two ends of the spectrum. The big-brand end – slick, high-volume, transactional. The estate end – often lovely photography with a broken checkout. Neither is right for a boutique estate that wants both the atmosphere and a real e-commerce engine underneath.

Hazon Vines needed the site to do the estate justice – Afrikaans-influenced wine names (Avondmaal, Ademloost, Gezellig, Droom, Roepstem), the Magalies backdrop, the family behind the labels – and still ship a bottle to a customer in Sandton on the same visit.

The work

We built the identity around the estate’s voice – elegance, warmth, terroir. A wordmark that sits confidently against the vineyard imagery. A palette that flexes between the range’s varietals without breaking the family look.

Uncork the Essence of Hartbeespoort Valley – the anchor line, front-loaded on the homepage. Names the region as the story, not the estate name.

Shop the range – individual wine pages for the reds, whites, and sparkling. Each with tasting notes, food pairings, vintage, and the story behind the name. Real e-commerce with WooCommerce – add to cart, checkout, delivery to the buyer, all in the same flow.

Book a tasting – the estate’s on-site experience given its own section. Pairing platters, tours, group bookings. What to expect on the day, how to get there, when to arrive.

Our Story – the family and the terroir written properly, not tucked into an About page nobody visits. The reason the labels have the names they have.

Blog and editorial – the estate’s ongoing content pillar, so the team can publish harvest notes, new releases, and event write-ups without a developer round.

Built on WordPress + WooCommerce – editable everywhere. New releases add themselves to the shop, new tasting slots update in the booking flow, new stories publish to the blog.

If your estate lives on story and detail, a template shop is not the deal. Talk to us about the site that sells the wine and the place it comes from.
